What ever happened to this young lady? She was one of those quirky 90s-era beauties (Angie Jolie crossed with Medusa?) that we don't often see in the age of "High School Musical." Reminds me I need to rewatch Valmont, Milos Forman's also-ran adaptaion of Les Liaisons Dangereuses, because Fairuza and Annette Bening were quite fierce and I'm sure the sets will still inspire. However Christine Baranski screaming "Close your legs, Cécile -- this isn't Jamaica!!" to Selma Blair in Cruel Intentions is probably my favorite moment out of all three movies.

i can't find it now, but the last time i checked she had this amazing nightmare of a personal site up, with lots of video of her gypsy punk band and info about her wiccan supply store in LA; realest of talks.
ReplyDeleteincredulous that you didn't even mention "return to oz".
She was so amazing in "Return to Oz"!!
ReplyDelete"Return to Oz!" Awesome.
ReplyDelete"Close your legs, Cécile -- this isn't Jamaica!!"
ReplyDeleteLOL! omg, i LOVE that movie!

I've never seen "Return to Oz" !!! (Filled with shame and regret)
ReplyDeleteQuestions for PP:
1. Does Tobias G. look at all like Ryan P.? If you squint?
2. Is he single??
;-)
I actually just met Fairuza at this horror film convention in Jersey were they screened The Craft. She was very sweet and beautiful.
ReplyDeleteHer last film was an Indie about a group of pot farmers in California called "Humbolt County." She also recently took part in a music Documentary called "The Heart is a Drum Machine." She has two new movies in the works; "Bad Lieutenant: Port of Call New Orleans" with Nicolas Cage, and "Thicker" with Guy Pearce.
Who is she?
ReplyDeleteI remember liking her a lot in "gas, food, lodging" with Ione Skye.
ReplyDeletecome to think of it, what happened to Ione Skye?
...and for some reason, THAT makes me wonder about Madchen Amick.
ReplyDeleteIone Skye just married Ben Lee (Claire Danes's ex) in India!
ReplyDeleteMadchen Amick, now that's a good one. She was in Twin Peaks, right? And Models, Inc.?
Coolest name poll: Sigourney Weaver, Fairuza Balk, or Madchen Amick. Cast your vote or add your own!
Close. Madchen Amick was in the scrumptiously bad "Central Park West," a Darren Star creation.
ReplyDeleteMy vote for coolest name: another slightly-off-looking brunette beauty-- Shalom Harlow.
Oh geeze...yes! Return to Oz! So campy. And how about "The Craft?!" It scared me like no other back in the day. Wasn't she in "Waterboy" as well?
ReplyDeleteShe was in Almost Famous too.
ReplyDelete"The new girls are just groupies. They don't use birth control, and they eat all the steak."
Wasn't 'Return to Oz' the one where they gave the returned-to-Kansas Dorothy electroshock treatments? A great kiddie movie!
ReplyDeleteHere's a nice Fairuza Balk tribute set to Pink's "Cause I Can." I usually don't like fan tributes, but this one is really fun.

She was so nuts in "The Craft." She blew the lead girl off the screen, as only the naturally charismatic can.
Here are two weird names for the price of one. Mena Suvari Mira
ReplyDeleteSorvino Mena Suvari Mira Sorvino Mena.....
sorry dude, I can't recognize no element in the scene you showed here, not even the girl you mentioned, I have to make a investigation, when I find something I back to tell you.
