Anyhoooooo I saw these in a catalog the other day and they sorta prove a theory: useless stuff is even CUTER when made en miniature:
No, the top isn't one of those pretty lacquered boxes from Plantation Home, it's a business card holder from Cambria Cove, online ladyporium. How quaint. The catalog looks like what Girl Scouts in Orange County would sell instead of cookies. Next are red and black patent leather sunglasses cases? For a preemie, maybe. They're 3 inches long! "Just the right size for holding earrings, stamps, mints, or other small items that get lost in your purse" they say. Like my last shred of financial prudence now that my taxes are paid?
Don't get me wrong I'm a Dum Dum Sucker for stuff like this. Is it 40-dollars-cute? Maybe not, but I gotta hand it to CC for trying.

In Taiwan, they have shelves upon shelves of these things and everytime I visit, I have to forcibly remind myself that I WILL have to haul it all home. At least the stuff there is more along the lines of 2-dollars-cute. Yay exchange rate.

I got that catalog over the weekend too and literally had the exact same thought process -- from "what is this?" to "ooh these are kind of cute"...."these too"... "$40?? no way."
ReplyDeleteMy other thought process involved how the heck I got on this Orange County girl scout mailing list... we must have something in common, at least in terms of direct marketing value :)
Wow, I saw the business card case and thought "must. have. now.", then saw the price tag and decided it would be a when-I-win-Powerball purchase instead. If you find anything similar at the Container Store or such, keep us posted!
