Never heard of sheesham wood, but that pieced pyramid is chic. 19 bucks and free shipping make it irresistible (Are you listening, Cambria Cove?).

Abstract ceramic seashells? Yes, please! $16 each and again free shipping. These are in the 5-6inch range, but how cool would it be if they enlarged the nautilus, tilted him up one side et voila, lacquer side table? And bigger conch (ahem) would make such a fabulous lamp base! Just a thought.

Meanwhile in the soft home accessories department, splatter is So Hot Right Now. I might have a Jackson Pollock/Albert Hadley for Hinson moment in my bedroom and the print on this pillow is just as inspiring. Wish it came in poppier colors though.

Do you think you could make your own splatter stuff? I mean, the technique does not seem challenging. Maybe if there were plain canvas pillow covers available? You could use fabric paint, and practice on some posterboard to refine your splattering.
ReplyDeleteWhere are we on that?
I do enjoy witty innuendo. I think it's shesham, though. And is anyone else remembering covers of grade school math textbooks after seeing those seashells?!
ReplyDeleteIt's an Indian word, so the English spelling is up for grabs. You can write it sheesham, shesham, shisham...
ReplyDeletethe stylised ceramic seashells are really gorgeous. love the splatter pillow. sweet!
ReplyDeletei love having the nick olsen stamp of approval. it comes in handy when giving hostess gifts. if the face of our host remains expressionless, i'll just tell them "nick olsen loves this!" and all will be well ; )
Sweet! The wood pieces are so sick and I agree with Paul the seashells are very neat.
ReplyDeleteThat Pollack pillow makes me want to whip out my plain, ugly cushions and get jiggy with some textile paint.
ReplyDeleteThe wood pieces are unbelievably gorgeous : ) !
ReplyDeleteI bought the seashells the other day! Pretty cool-they come 4 to a pack. So I got a total of 8. I thought it was 1 each. Gotta figure out what to do with them now?? I want to add some color!
ReplyDeleteI also bought the starfish-they are real. They come 8 in a pack and its better 2 buy 2. I put them in a cylinder glass and they look awesome...fyi!!:)
'We' are totally into the DIY splatter fabric/accessories. Jeffrey Bilhuber even did a splatter of gold (or rather and artist whose name I forget did it) over his De Gournay wallpaper, pretty cool.
ReplyDeleteAnon how exciting that it's 4x the seashell fun. Yes why not paint them each a different color? Bold though, no pastels.
PP, think I should pitch a line of hostess gifts to the Home Shopping Network ?? ;-)
I have been a huge WE fan. I love changing things up & their great prices allow me to do that with out feeling guilty.
ReplyDeleteI say buy a painter's canvas. Provide the drinks and great music. Invite a few friends over. Let the guests have a great time with their favorite paint, techniques, etc. Let it dry out (guests possibly, canvas definitely), cut it up and sew up pillows. Great memories which will only get better when red wine is spilled on it.
ReplyDeleteAs decoration it is really good , I want to have the chance of go to a festival of this products !
