Autumn in June

So the weather has felt like November for a good two months now in New York and I'm OVER IT. Never over this though:

A Pilgrim-esque Linda Evangelista photographed by Steven Meisel for Vogue Italia, June 2008. A full year ago! And check out that headline: I'm sure Jennifer is too humble to make a connection, but I see a lot of her moderne gentility in this photo. And maybe a little Pauline de Rothschild by Horst. Oh, and the Napoleon French Bakery back in Pensacola boasted this huge, bizarro New England-themed photo mural WAY before photo murals were popular! I never understood the connection between croissants and water mills/fall foliage but it had a certain chic.

  4. Great cover! (Sidenote: TN has been more like Calcutta in July since May. Not ideal. And yeah, I stole that phrase from Dorothy Zbornak.)

  5. One day, we'll discover that the Chinese have a weirdly overstyled, vaguely condescending decorative arts tradition called Americanoiserie.

  7. I'm with Lisa Mc, totally. She looks like she carries a pistol on her hip. Very Devil Wears Prada.
