That's Mrs. Meares and me trolling for goodies. She bought a very Jonathan Adler-y blue porcelain elephant and I snagged this Ron Galella book for two bucks:

Turns out nicer copies sell for much more! (By the way how do we feel about this font as a potential logo? Too Rat Pack at the Sands? Bryn prefers it to my previous trad options).
We also got to play decorating professors to a bunch of nice ladies in Jamie's smoking hot store. NO I'M NOT JEALOUS OF HER BURGEONING EMPIRE, NOT AT ALL. I painted a door pink and made a carnation ball. Sheer bliss!
(Now playing)

Thanks so much for making the trip down to NC. I really enjoyed the class, Professor Olsen. Your pink door was super sexy, that was so sweet of you to paint it for Jamie !
ReplyDeleteJealous of your trip. Sounds like a blast - and productive! Like the font quite a bit - feels paintbrushed. Is that a word? Marija
ReplyDeletesweetheart, you look as good from the back as you do from the front....
ReplyDeletePainting doors in NC and educating the masses. You've come a long way, Mr. Olsen!
ReplyDeleteI MUCH prefer this "Jacqueline" font. It reminds me of the handwritten typeface sometimes used on the cover of Vogue Paris. Man, Carine can do NO wrong!
ReplyDeleteI don't love the font...but I do know that a moment in the soul can last forever.
ReplyDeleteLove the font...it has enough sleekness to shake the Sands....
ReplyDeleteTammy: Thanks for coming! Sexy doors are a must for 2010.
ReplyDeleteMarija: You just made it a word if it's not. One I will use often.
A Perfect Gray: Don't make me blush!
Amanda: I'm still the same little boy who made bandeau tops for Barbie.
Pieter: I'm OBSESSED with Vogue Paris and wish Carine would adopt me already.
Tommy: Somewhere deep in my soul, Whit is still finishing that epic note at the end.
ModFruGal: Glad you like. Wouldn't "Shake the Sands" make a good blog name?
A carnation ball--that's spring-time fresh! I hope carnations are coming back in style. They're so inexpensive and they last a really long time. The perfect flower for the recession.
ReplyDeletefan of you, but not of that font. it's too miami-y, if that makes sense. but whatever floats your boat.
ReplyDeleteIt was great meeting you last weekend Nick! & let me know if you are still interested in the boat & house in Savannah! :)
ReplyDeleteThat pink door kicks ass.
ReplyDeleteNick - That font just might be the handiwork of a fashion illustrator/artist named Joe Eula, who did the "Interview" scrawl way back when. You also might know his work from all of the Liza artwork through the years, as well as The Supremes, Aznavour, and...um...my cd! He was a genius!
