I just saw Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland and lah-huvved it. Even before the Wonderland portion kicked in -- did anyone else want to attend the English country house garden party, tense as it was? Forget rambles and follies, this looked like Versailles. The rest of the film did not disappoint with Colleen Atwood costumes, 3D Burton-esque landscapes and delicious Helena Bonham Carter as the Red Queen (I champion any character with a cranium bigger than my own). And any movie with a bigger opening weekend than Avatar, which Rebina's new mantreat dubbed "Fern Gully-Pocahontas." Yes. Now if Johnny Depp was channeling Keith Richards as Jack Sparrow, his inspiration for the Mad Hatter must come from an icon of fashion, not music:
Sonia Rykiel. The Queen of Knits has incidentally launched her second collection for H&M:
Madly chic. And while we're on the subject of icons let's not forget who riffed on Lewis Carroll's novel without glossing over the psychedelic/semi-pedophilic factor:
That Tom Petty video is even creepier/better than i remember from my early Vh1 watching days. p.s. is that a Jonas brother serving Alice @ 1:10? Prolific, those Jonai.
have you seen the Tom Petty documentary? it's like 4 hours, but it never gets boring. after watching, you feel like T-Petts just spent the weekend at your house, drinkin' smoothies and makin' trouble.

Let see how it would be interesting or.....

Bryn, to think I was jealous when my older sis got to see NKOTB in concert. Taste has its own learning curve!
ReplyDeleteMrs. B, I'm only a hipster wannabe but knowing you follow my avant-avant pal Keehnan's 2THEWALLS (and vice versa) makes me absolutely giddy.
Off to squint for young Jonas and order the Petty documentary -- thanks y'all!
"Don't come around here no more" is one of my all time favorite music videos.
