Oh my gosh, deja vu! I had a deep plum taffeta skirt my mom got from a garage sale. I wore it with a tank top on formal night on a cruise (haha!!). I remember I lovvved it. Thanks for the memories. :)
I totally rocked that look at my Mom's second wedding! Wow, that sounds terrible in a way. I like the ball gown/white shirt combo too, like Jenna Lyons rocked in Harper's back in the day: http://thelovelist.net/2010/04/jenna-lyons-enough-said.html
I totally bought that Vogue and totally wanted to rock that look for my prom. Mom said no. Also no to the silver Docs I wanted to wear with the silver and white ballgown I did end up with. Boo.
I remember Jacob that year carried a beautiful holiday collection, and I had a fabulous iridescent pink/purple ballgown skirt. I was 14. Thanks for bringing back one of the most charming Vogue covers ever. It's not so much that I miss that look, but that I think dressing up has been less fun and serious for awhile.
for the love of god! why can't everyone stop staying "wife beater" what about just a "tank" or even a "boy beater"?! domestic abuse is not sexy or cute or funny or fashionable. and everyone thinks it's okay!
I agree, ballet skirts are the best!
ReplyDeleteI'm wearing them now.
ReplyDeleteI love that Maggie Rizer. Plus, can we just talk about Yoga With Courtney Love for a minute?
ReplyDelete...ummm....it didn't take.
I think I was 18 when that cover came out and I totally wore a black wife-beater with a turquoise taffeta skirt out one night. In small-town Georgia.
ReplyDeleteI liked that look, too. Happy Easter!
ReplyDeleteFabulous look! Happy Easter to you as well!

ReplyDeleteI love that look. High and low is always the way to go!
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh I LOVED it and rocked it to many bar/bat mitzvahs back in the day with varying levels of success.
ReplyDeleteI completely missed the boat on this one but I desperately want to see Star Wars style.
ReplyDeleteCan't believe Kate Moss agreed to share a cover.
ReplyDeleteGlad y'all remember and likey too. My pal Carissa rocked a crunchy iridescent green ball skirt + semi-sheer leopard print Victoria's Secret camisole at prom one year ... make no mistake, it was the outré hotness!
ReplyDeleteOh I LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOVED that look! I could never pull it off but always thought it looked so fantastic.
ReplyDeleteWOW this brings me BACK! to sitting alone at lunch reading this magazine in the cafeteria!
