The song "Bruises" by Chairlift (honestly, were all the good band names taken?)
reminds me so much of a little ditty from my youth called "Mouth," by Merril Bainbridge:
Thoughts? I sort of miss when novelty acts could crack the top ten. Jewel apparently cried the first time she heard "Who Will Save Your Soul?" on the radio because she thought her voice sounded like Kermit the Frog's, and later compared her debut album selling 12 million copies to "a Datsun winning the Indianapolis 500." Never, ever again.

Love that song. That said, "Never again" seems a bit pessimistic. After all, Arcade Fire just sold out Madison Square Garden.
ReplyDeleteThis song is so catchy. I think it was on a commercial in the last year or so. Maybe she could try a cartwheel instead?
ReplyDeleteI miss 90s music in general, for the most part, for the sheer fun of it. In the case of Jewel, I think she's really talented but was not handled very well. She should have stuck with snaggle-toothed folksy lovin' instead of shilling for ladies' razors.
Speaking of novelty acts, this morning I woke up with this masterpiece running through my mind.
ReplyDeleteToo much Albie Manzo last night I guess.
forgot about that one. memories of EDS and p-cola!!!
