photograph by Max Kim-BeeAn entry hall of a big ol' Charles Platt house in Nashville, sublimely renovated and decorated by Gil Schafer and David Netto, respectively (both esteemed F.O.M.s, or Friends of Mugatu). Here's all you need to be chic this week:
- A tumbling block marble floor in shades of black, white, and the unexpected travertine/limestone
- A felt skirted table WITHOUT A GLASS TOP and some blue and white porcelain that didn't come from Pearl River
- Balloon-back French chairs with tatty old butterscotch leather seats
- A William Kent style console AND mirror, one chalky and one parcel gilt (if Christopher Hodsoll didn't make these I'm a monkey's uncle).
- A lamp that looks like something out of your stoner aunt's studio in Laurel Canyon.
- A Basquiat.
Easy enough, right?

Ummm...chello? Nashville is where it's at. Tah. Der. Come visit!
ReplyDeleteDo I have to have the Basquiat?
ReplyDeleteI bleeve you Tom Tom Club! Wheels are up on the Nick Olsen International G6 at 9am tomorrow.
ReplyDeleteAnon: YES.
Only the likes of you would know how my pulse jumped when I saw Netto and Schafer on the contents page. Geezo beezo but those boys can turn a day around.
ReplyDeleteIf John Rosselli did not make the mirror, he has one very similar.
ReplyDeleteMrs. B, that lacquer family room (black? eggplant?) ranks a close second in this category. Also: officially stealing "geezo beezo."
ReplyDeleteClassicist, good call on Mr. Rosselli. I need this one for a client but might die from sticker shock if I ask ...
A tumbling block floor always makes me dizzy with excitement. I wonder how many miles of blue painter's tape were killed for it?
ReplyDeleteDavid Netto is an immense talent.
ReplyDelete(But that fringe just makes me think of cat hair and English muffin crumbs.)
If I could only take one thing from this space it would be the blue and white porcelain and the HUGE bunch of hydrangea's. That makes it for me! Imagine the space without? Hope you have a lovely weekend!
ReplyDeleteIt's that green skirted table that gets my motor running.
ReplyDeleteword to the pressures of weekly feature posts. also, where does one turn to find out the down low on "F.O.M"? I think I missed the story behind this somewhere in my scrolling...
ReplyDeleteI love the frame to the minor in the picture. Quite nice.
