House Beautiful Small Spaces

Hootie hoo, yal! Remember like a month ago when I said I had news? Well, EXTRY! EXTRY! Read all 'bout it (sorry, can you tell I'm in Pensacola?):

Björn Wallander for House Beautiful

A TEENSY apartment I decorated for my friend and Scorpio Soul Sister Rebecca Phillips (a very talented photographer/yoga instructor -- that's her abstract closeup of coin-operated dolphin kiddie ride above) has landed in the pages of House Beautiful's July/August issue!! Just a little teaser here since I want you all to run out and buy a copy, but you can also check out a video tour of her pad here ... please, no comments on my wig, billowy checked blouse, or nasal squeal! BIGGEST thanks to EIC Newell Turner, Decorating Director Doretta Sperduto for reaching out, Creative Director Scott Schy for getting our girlie-Mexi-Frenchie-with-an-edge moment, and Style Director (and proud Brooklynite) Sabine Rothman and Senior Editors Orli Ben-Dor and Christine Pittel for a fabulous shoot and interview. Last but not least, thanks to genius photog Björn Wallander for capturing this labor of love and humoring us all as we shifted around candied kiwis, turquoise Buddha heads and Sylvia Plath novels until they looked just so. I am JUST SO THRILLED!!

  5. Congrats on landing in HB--and great job of showing that a small space can be just as fabulous and special as a honkin' big space.

  6. Love it so much, that chevron chest, the headboard fabric, those billowy drapes with the trim, the red night tables, that amazing little kitchen, the coffee table, the green trim on the doors, the modern art and then my favorite flowers ever, sweet peas!

  26. Well done! I live in a reasonably large place but need a tiny space-aware friend to help me make the best of it instead of wasting space.

  30. I love this. It might be the most perfect little place I've ever seen. I was blown away. I have the magazine opened to this layout and I don't want to turn the page for fear I will break the beautiful spell that comes over me when I look at what you've done. You've inspired me and given me hope. Thank you!

  31. Officially obsessed with this space! Was standing at the checkout flipping mags when I saw this the other day, and did a jaw drop. LOVE everything, especially the colors. Needless to say, I bought the issue.

    ReplyDelete
  32. Now I have a reason to buy this HB issue. Fab! Yeah, upholstering the chair with that Mexican blanket was a genius idea. I used to have 2 of those blankets. Why couldn't I think to use them this way?!!
Congrats, Nick. Always a pleasure to see your work.
