That's a little double entendre meant to congratulate my insanely talented friend Keehnan Konyha and his boyfriend Jacob Gaboury, who turned a light-challenged Williamsburg loft (and former bathhouse!) into a moody den of multichic. It's like the best of 70s ArchDigest (minus the orchids and accordion-pleated lamp shades) meets hipster aesthete meets Billy Baldwin, and now it's NYMag's Space of the Week:
Having passed out there I can attest to its excellence as party venue ... I mean, who needs a bar tray when you have space for an ACTUAL BAR? With Pierre Cardin stools, no less. Keeks works for East Village decorating doyen David Cafiero and authors the blog 2THEWALLS, which sometimes makes me feel like I have the cultural capital of a pair of mom jeans but never ceases to inform and inspire. Among the many lessons here? Street finds can look better than half the crap on 1stDibs and quilted moving blankets make amazing slipcovers. Megakudos, kiddo!!

That's it. I'm switching over to Keehnan. See ya, chevronboy.
ReplyDeletehaha your readers are funny. his are kinda mean. I didn't think the space was too cluttered at all. Loved it.
ReplyDeleteGreat pad, great write-up! It's all about the striped walls; bold and beautiful. Very much a guy's place. But I'm partial to black-and-white anyway; check out the exterior of Berlin's best luxury dept. store lit up at night, "Quartier 206", to see black-and-white stripes taken to the next level.
ReplyDeleteVery chic! Love those walls
ReplyDeleteBeyond. The home, the blog and the blogger. (And you, too, as I would have never seen this here in the outback.)
ReplyDeleteI like it--bold yet cozy. Their readers say cluttered, but let's face it, people actually live there. Good for them for creating an actual livable space.
ReplyDeletei agree with mrs. blandings. BEYOND.....
ReplyDeletewell done keehnan. i hope to see the space in person sometime....
Hate to break it to you Nick, but there's nothing "Billy Baldwin" about that. Horizontal stripes look bad enough on people, let alone in rooms. They'll repaint in three months after two martinis and a visit from a clown. It's a sideways circus tent!
ReplyDeleteI love how the walls are both black and white. A great mix of color.
